New Mexico HIMSS and CNM Establish Scholarship Fund
The New Mexico Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (NM-HIMSS) has agreed to contribute to the Central New Mexico Community College (CNM) Foundation to assist students interested in a career in Health Information Technology. This scholarship will be available through the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters for students seeking an Associate in Science Degree in the Health Information Technology Program at CNM.
Per the Board of Directors for NM-HIMSS: “We are pleased to provide assistance to students entering into the complex field of Health Information Technology. NM-HIMSS’s mission is focused on better health through information technology and anything we can do to engage the next generation of HIT experts is beneficial.’
The CNM Scholarship and Financial Aid office shall select the recipient of the scholarship per the following criteria:
- Be enrolled in the Associate of Science in the Health Information Technology Program at CNM;
- Maintain a 3.0 grade point average;
- Be taking a minimum of 6.0 credit hours;
- Must submit a letter of recommendation from a Health, Wellness and Public Safety faculty member and/or achievement coach;
- Must submit a personal statement on goals and how this scholarship will aid in obtaining those goals.
