President - Kevin P. Carey, MBA/MHSA, CPHIMS, FACHE

 

 

 

 

Kevin Carey is a senior healthcare management and business development leader, whose career has spanned multiple settings; clinical care-giver and U.S. Navy veteran, hospital administrator with multiple not-for-profit health systems, and managed care consultant for payors such as Aon and BCBS plans.  During the past 15 years Kevin devoted his career to promoting and delivering all aspects of healthcare information technologies to Payors, Providers, and Government Contractors.  

Kevin has been serving as CEO, Holy Cross Physician Hospital Organization in Taos, since 2016, and is responsible for Payor Relations and Contracting as well as strategically positioning the local health system and a panel of 100+ practitioners for Value Based Care/Reimbursement and Population Health Management. He also is Partner/Owner in a national consulting firm focused on optimizing performance in risk, value-based arrangements.

Kevin holds an MBA and MHSA from the University of Kansas, is board certified in healthcare management since 1997 and a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives since 1999.  Kevin is a CPHIMSS in the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and is looking forward to participating in, giving voice to and positioning NMHIMSS as an engaged, active and visionary chapter of HIMSS.

Outside the office Kevin enjoys skiing, hiking with his wolf-dog Kaia of 11 years, enduro motorcycle riding, and is a PADI SCUBA Certified Dive Instructor.

Treasurer - Bindu Purushothaman

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bindu Purushothaman is a Healthcare IT executive with 20+ years of experience in technology. She is very passionate about Healthcare and believes that technology has a crucial role in transforming today’s health care delivery model, meeting the demands of today’s tech savvy consumers while improving the quality of care and effectively controlling the cost. She believes transforming healthcare requires us to accelerate value and innovation through the tremendous data set we have, we must strengthen our muscles in this area and it is up to us as leaders in our community to lead that transformation. Bindu is currently serving as the Market Chief Information Officer of DaVita Medical Group in New Mexico. Bindu has a Masters in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Electronics Engineering.

Secretary – Tanya Chavez

Tanya Chavez is a Healthcare IT leader with 20+ years of experience in technology whose career has spanned in Healthcare, Government and Private Industry. Tanya currently is serving as a Senior IT Business Consultant reporting to the CIO of Presbyterian Health Services. Tanya believes technology is an enabler that can transform the business by identifying and pursuing focused areas for process improvements. She is a native New Mexican and is passionate about serving the community she lives in.

Michael Herrick is the founder of HIPAA.host, an Albuquerque based risk-management firm. He assists clients on issues of security, compliance, and process integration.

Chair, Advocacy - Amanda Bergamo

Amanda Bergamo started her work in Healthcare fifteen years ago as the Executive Director for a venture philanthropy research foundation to raise funds for innovative discoveries to cure or control disease, she moved into the technology space 8 years ago, to become “the conduit between the human experience and technology”.  Currently she is the Experience and Quality Program Manager at Presbyterian Healthcare Services focusing on optimizing the Patient and Member digital journey

Communications – Jim Ward

 

 

 

 

With 15 years of experience in the medical device industry and now with Allscripts as a Regional Sales Executive in the ambulatory physician market. Jim graduated with a bachelor of business administration degree from Easter New Mexico University.
